What is Upwork?

It is an online job marketplace where employers hire, manage and pay remote workers from all over the world.  Freelance jobs are being posted by employers so that contractors can apply or bid for them.

What is the cost?
Upwork (formerly oDesk) is free to register for both employers and contractors.  Clients are charged a payment processing fee of 2.75%.  Freelancers will be charged based on their lifetime billings with their client.
20% for the first $500 billed to a single client
10% for the total billings between $500.01 and $10,000
5% for the total billings that exceed $10,000

How to start?
Just simply follow the steps below:
1.  Create a free contractor account.  Your profile will serve as your online resume so fill out every field to complete your registration.  A well written profile will definitely attract more clients.
2. Take the Upwork readiness test.  It is important to familiarize yourself with Upwork features and policies before applying for jobs.
3.  Take other free skill tests.  This will showcase your skills to potential clients.  There are a lot of free skill tests to choose from so take tests which you think are relevant to you.
4.  Apply for jobs.  Search for jobs that match your expertise and catch a prospective client's attention with an excellent job application.  Write a customized cover letter to every job you're applying to.
5.  Get ready for a job interview.  This is the time to prove that you are fit for the job so be yourself and be honest.  It's now up to client to decide whether to hire you or not.

Getting Paid
It is a must to set-up your payment method to withdraw your earnings.   Adding one or more payment method is highly recommended so you can still withdraw your earnings when one payment method is unavailable.
